Zen Cha Tea Salon

March 31, 2011 § 3 Comments

So this week was the start of my penultimate quarter at OSU. (Note the use of a big, fancy college word!) I won’t lie, this first week back has been rough. I haven’t given my classes the attention they deserve and even though I’m only 4 days in, I feel incredibly behind. Instead of spending the afternoon in the library like a responsible student, I spent it at Zen Cha Tea Salon. I figure if I can’t cross schoolwork off my to do list, I should at least cross something off of my Bucket List!

After we finished class and work for the day, we hopped in the car and headed down to the Short North. Once we got there, we were all struck by the SMELL of the place. Something was off. Could have been Joelynn but I’m not totally sure………………….

Anyway, since it was a tea salon and all, we ordered some drinks. Bethany is a lover of bubble tea and I’m kind of freaked out by it, so instead of ordering my own, she let me try hers. I was kind of surprised when the tapioca ball came through the straw, but it was better than I expected!

In a throwback to my Arabic heritage, I went with a hot Arabian tea flavored with cardamom, cinnamon and orange. I loved it! Hot and fragrant.

Joelynn, ever adventurous, went with a big glass of Columbus’ finest!

We also ordered some lunch.. sandwiches, soup and some samosas to share. My food was pretty good, but my favorite thing was spending the afternoon with two lovely ladies.

Love ya, bitches!

Another thing crossed off the list!

Sorry Dad. Really, I didn’t mean to. I’m just not the best parker…

Thanks to quick thinking and an even quicker trip to Auto Zone to pick up supplies,

It’s good as new!

I don’t know why the car looks like a mirror, because it’s actually black. Anyway, that rubbing compound seriously WORKS! If you ever have any scratches or paint from minor scrapes, this stuff will work like magic. It took about 10 minutes of intense scrubbing, but I had adrenaline pumping because at 22, I’m still scared of disappointing my Dad.

Good thing he doesn’t read my blog!

Sweet Home St Pete

March 21, 2011 § 1 Comment

I’m finally back home in St Pete for a much needed vacation. Not quite the wild spring break most college girls plan, but just what I needed. I’ve spent the past few days visiting my favorite restaurants, working out at the Vinoy, spending time with my parents & grandparents, and of course, doing my fair share of shopping at International Plaza.

Saturday I woke up with a mission. I was going to a spin class at the Vinoy. Instead, I decided to enjoy the beautiful weather and ride my bike instead. I mean, why spend an hour in a hot room filled with sweaty people huffing away going nowhere when you can enjoy a solo ride by the water instead? Anyway, I rode out to St Pete’s Saturday Morning Market which is basically a huge famer’s market with tons of vendors selling everything from crafts to clothes to organic veggies. I love it. I ran into quite a few people that I haven’t seen in awhile which sucked because I didn’t have on any makeup and was wearing workout clothes! I hate when that happens.

I spent the rest of the day getting mani pedi with Libby – we enjoyed some much needed sister time. I love the little n00b! She’s 14 and growing up sooooooo fast. It makes me feel OLD.

Sunday was spent at the beach with my friend  Tiffany. Small world moment – Tiffany is my roommate at OSU. Her older sister Courtney, & fiancé, Jake, are renting my older sister’s condo here in Tampa. My sister’s condo was empty since she moved to Manhattan and a few weeks aago Jake landed a job down here, so I told them about each other and now my sister’s condo is Tiffany’s sister’s condo! Anyway, Tif is spending a few days in Tampa with her sister before heading to Ft Lauderdale to visit some of her family, so we squeezed in some sun time between life guard shifts ….

Andddd today I got up, hit the gym for an extra sweaty workout, then I laid out by the pool alllllll afternoon. It was glorious. I got some reading done, but mostly I napped. In the evening, I drove up to Tampa and met my mom for a latte and some shoe shopping  after she got off work. I really love my mom – she’s the BEST to shop with (not just because she pays). I also spent some more time with my grandparents..my nana may be blinder than a bat, but the woman can still cook.

The rest of my plans for the week include……………….. NOTHING!

And it feels G.R.E.A.T!

Not quite Einstein

Tomorrow I face my last final of the quarter, physics.

The current state of my brain is this:

And no offense to modern physics but when Einstein made this discovery:

I really think he meant this:

Spring Break Reading List

March 15, 2011 § 1 Comment

I’m heading home to St Pete in the next few days, I anticipate a lot of free time. I have a trip to the outlet malls planned, some workouts, and of course lounging poolside/beachside. I’m not one of those people that can just lay for hours without entertainment, so I use my breaks from school to read for fun. In case you didn’t realize what a nerd I truly am, I present my spring break reading list!

PW-Book

1. Yes, I know I could have saved the money  I spent on this (2+ lattes!) and just started cutting back, but I feel like I need some outside, expert help. And it’s pink!

2. I’ve recently rediscovered my love for Paulo Coelho, Veronika Decides to Die has been on my must read list for a few years. I’ve finally gotten around to starting it, and I had to tear myself away to study for exams! Such and interesting perspective.

3. I’m on Part 3 of Black Heels and can’t wait to read about Ree’s first year of marriage to Marlboro Man! So romantic, but it really makes me crave steak…

4. I feel like I have read or reread a Candace Bushnell novel over almost every vacation I’ve ever taken. I haven’t read this one yet, but I’m anticipating a juicy, girly, easy to read book, perfect with a drink poolside 8)
