Last weekend, the girls and I went to Hubbard’s, a newish restaurant/bar in the Short North. I had driven by it a few times, read about it in some of my favorite local Columbus magazines, and put it on my bucket list. The first Saturday of each month is gallery hop weekend – all of the galleries stay open late and have open houses, bars and restaurants have specials, and it’s just a fun way to spend a night out. Even though it was raining, it didn’t stop us. We had a great time and I can’t wait to go back to Hubbard’s!

The best part about Hubbard’s was that there were kegs right at the table. You can’t see it in the picture, but there is a little screen in the table that tells you what beers are on tap at your table and how many ounces you have poured. They charge you by the ounce and you pour your own beer, which is really nice for when you just want a few more sips, but not a full beer.

Bad news was, the beer we wanted was a new keg – super fizzy and not exactly drinkable. Our waiter was really nice about it and we just ordered other drinks. That can you see in the picture above?’s champagne!! Whenever bubbles are on the menu, I’m going to order them. I was a bit wary of the can, it came with a sippy straw and everything! I mean, who drinks champagne out of a straw?

Anyway, the drinks were great, but we all agreed, the spinach dip we ordered stole the show. It was gone within minutes!

After a few more rounds of drinks, we decided it was time to head out to our next destination: Union. But first, we had to make sure Joelynn’s knee brace was protected from the rain!

The rest of the night was spent dancing it up at Union and then hitting the Arena District for a visit to Brothers to meet up with some of our other friends. Even though it was rainy, it was a really great night! Of course, the best part is always the cab ride home, which I’m pretty sure our cabbie enjoyed as much as we did …
