Here in Columbus, fireworks for 4th of July are a big deal.
The city puts on an amazing display called Red, White & Boom! Last night, I headed downtown with friends to watch the show, and it was one of the best fireworks displays I’ve ever seen.
I seriously LOVE long weekends. There is just something so relaxing about knowing I have an extra day to get my weekend tasks accomplished. Since this is a holiday weekend, it’s even better because good food, good friends, and sparklers are involved!

Your sense of humor
Your wonderful cooking
Your willingness to wake up at the crack of dawn and take me to the airport
Your flawless skin (even if you were ignoring me during this picture to talk on the phone to someone else)
Are just a few of the many, many things that I love you for.
I miss you + love you very much! I wish I was home in Florida celebrating with you!

Well friends, as promised, here are a few pictures from my Cinco de Mayo celebrations. My friend Joelynn tore her ACL, meniscus, + MCL, so she had to crutch her way around. When we got to the bars, she sat to give her knee a rest and the good friends we are took her crutches off her hands. We may or may not have danced around smacking people with them. Ooops.

Never one with much love for math, instead of today being Pi Day, I celebrate it as PIE Day.
I only have one person to thank for this – Rob’s Mom. I had never heard of pie day, and actually never been a huge pie fan. I’ll eat a slice of pumpkin on Thanksgiving, but otherwise I prefer cake. Unless Rob’s Mom is baking… she is an great cook, but her pies are just amazing!! Last year, Rob happened to go home on Pie Day and came back to Columbus with two slices of pie. One for each of us. Unfortunately (for him and my thighs) he left the plate of pie at my house. The next day when he asked for his slice, I had to own up to eating both slices. Embarrassing! They were just so good I couldn’t help myself.
This year though, Mary was sweet enough to bring a pie up to Columbus this weekend! She had to be in town for other family things, so she baked a crumb topped apple pie and packed it up for us. Rob and I enjoyed every bite of our slices.. and this year I tried my best not to eat his leftover slice.

Saturday morning started off with the usual ritual of coffee, bodypump and shopping with Tiffany. The latte was perfect, bodypump was tough, and shopping was better than usual – Urban was having a 30% off clearance sale! It was one of those days where you want to walk out of the store wearing everything you bought. While I didn’t do exactly that, I did wear two new pieces out and about on Saturday.
The best buy of the day were these sandals. A 3.5 in wedged black sandal with BOWS? Yes, please! Tiffany actually found these babies but they didn’t fit her, so I got them.
After the epic morning with Tif, I hit the open road with Rob and headed to his mom’s house in Dayton. His older sister just had a birthday last week so we went for the day to celebrate. I love going back to see Rob’s family, especially since I live so far away from mine. His mom and brother cooked an amazing dinner which was followed up by the most delicious red velvet cake I have ever eaten.
Before heading back to Columbus, Rob and I met up with my best friend Katie, who I have known for 17 years! Her boyfriend is in the Navy and was home from deployment, so it was nice to catch up with them, even though we only saw each other for about half an hour. Rob drove us home and I passed out for the car ride. It was glorious.
Today I woke up surprisingly NOT sore from bodypump, so I kicked my own ass at the gym today. I can already feel the muscle soreness creeping in and I’m happy! I’m off to finish a big paper about malaria – it’s actually super interesting!
