Well, I’ve been slacking. But for good reasons. I’ve just been out and about (and studying ew) so much the past week, that I haven’t had much time to blog. There’s some stuff I really want to blog about, but I’m currently running late for the airport and need to pack still! I’m off to NYC for the weekend to visit my super fabulous older sister. She’s so New York, it’s not even funny. I’m not bringing my computer, so I don’t think I’ll be blogging until I get back next week. Once I’m back, expect lots of fun NYC related posts, as well as a few catch up posts from this past week in the ‘bus.
With that said, I’m going to leave you with a few pictures from the past few days.. just a taste of all the fun stuff I’ve been up to.
My sister Mary (in the middle) sent me this picture the other day. Our personalities haven’t changed much in the past 10 years.
Free ice coffee refills at Starbucks are a freaking lifesaver when it comes to studying anatomy + molecular genetics.
Columbus Brewing Company’s Summer Teeth = best summer beer ever. Enjoyed on the patio at North Market.
Fresh flowers in bloom all over the place – so cheap too!
Scored some great deals at the Nordstrom half-yearly sale. Get there! It lasts until Saturday.
I couldn’t make it through a post without some talk of food! This is Rob’s sandwich from Brown Bag Deli in German Village. It’s turkey, cranberry sauce and a slice of cheese grilled up. Basically, Thanksgiving on a sandwich. So yummy!

When I was younger and living at home, my Mom and I used to love spending rainy days digging through the racks at Marshall’s or TJMaxx. I really have to be in the mood to scrounge around for the good stuff at stores like that; yesterday was overcast, rainy, and all around perfect for a few hours of bargain hunting. I found a few items that I liked enough to purchase, but I’m not sure if I should keep them.
Item 1 – these patterned shorts were a total steal, but I’m not sure if they look too much like boxers?
Item 2 – I like this top because it’s pretty conservative and shows no visible cleavage. I just hope it’s not too frumpy?

White skirt – bought & love
Tan top – bought & love
Shoes – ehhhh not so sure.
I bought them because they’re a close match for these Prada pumps, at a huge fraction of the price. But then it begs the question – am I okay with knockoffs? Also, they were pretty cheap from Forever 21 so it’s not like they’re going to be comfortable. I don’t wear much brown, but I feel like they are such a cute summer shoe. I was shopping all alone and had no one to ask, so opinions please!

Saturday morning started off with the usual ritual of coffee, bodypump and shopping with Tiffany. The latte was perfect, bodypump was tough, and shopping was better than usual – Urban was having a 30% off clearance sale! It was one of those days where you want to walk out of the store wearing everything you bought. While I didn’t do exactly that, I did wear two new pieces out and about on Saturday.
The best buy of the day were these sandals. A 3.5 in wedged black sandal with BOWS? Yes, please! Tiffany actually found these babies but they didn’t fit her, so I got them.
After the epic morning with Tif, I hit the open road with Rob and headed to his mom’s house in Dayton. His older sister just had a birthday last week so we went for the day to celebrate. I love going back to see Rob’s family, especially since I live so far away from mine. His mom and brother cooked an amazing dinner which was followed up by the most delicious red velvet cake I have ever eaten.
Before heading back to Columbus, Rob and I met up with my best friend Katie, who I have known for 17 years! Her boyfriend is in the Navy and was home from deployment, so it was nice to catch up with them, even though we only saw each other for about half an hour. Rob drove us home and I passed out for the car ride. It was glorious.
Today I woke up surprisingly NOT sore from bodypump, so I kicked my own ass at the gym today. I can already feel the muscle soreness creeping in and I’m happy! I’m off to finish a big paper about malaria – it’s actually super interesting!

My last day at home was spent doing what I do best – shopping with my mom and sister.
The mission was to find a gown for my mom to wear to the FL governor’s inauguration next week. It was a 7 hour mall trip, but honestly it flew by! I couldn’t believe it when the saleslady at Sak’s was telling us that it was 9pm!
The highlight of the day though, was trying on furs… I will never forget petting chinchilla jackets. It is totally vile what they do to make fur jackets, but damn are they soft! The whole time we were in there Mary and I kept saying “rawwwwr” and petting the jackets, the saleslady was dying laughing… and so were we.
(Please spare me any animal rights stuff – I didn’t purchase any fur!)
Anyway, now I’m off to pack up – early flight back to Columbus tomorrow. Sooo much to do before tomorrow morning!

The highlight of today was definitely scooping up these babies:
Seriously, gotta love TJ Maxx – these are Calvin Klein’s and I scored them for $60!
The rest of the day was spent lounging around the house, going for a jog and drinking coffee. A good amount of Thanksgiving leftovers were consumed too! Tonight I’m headed up to Tampa to see some of my girlfriends who go to UT. Well, I’m off to get ready!
